System 21 Net Guidelines

The course you are taking is being delivered over the internet. Due to the possibility of an interruption in service or any other problems that may occur, it is important to know how to handle a situation if the program experiences a failure. This guide will provide you with the proper steps to take in case of a problem.

NOTE - if you are taking this course at a WCS School, you should get the Training Administrator in case of any problems or errors. This guide is for students taking the program outside of a WCS School.

It is recommended that you print this document if your computer has access to a printer. Otherwise, read the entire document to familiarize yourself with the types of problems you may encounter. Don't worry about trying to remember or write down everything - just be sure to write down the technical support phone number listed below. Our technical support line can talk you through any problems you may encounter.

Possible Situations and Solutions
Please Wait (spinning)
Please Wait...
Symptom: If you have a still Please Wait graphic that has been up for longer than 5 minutes - the program most likely locked up.

Solution: Use Alt-F4 to exit the program and then restart the program. When you login and resume your course - you will be where you were prior to the lockup.
Please Wait (not moving)
Symptom: If you have a spinning Please Wait graphic that has been up for longer than 5 minutes - the program most likely has lost a connection.

Solution: Use Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the Windows Task Manager. Click the menu - "Shutdown" and select "Restart". When your computer has rebooted, start the program. When you login and resume your course - you will be where you were prior to the lockup.
General Lockup
Symptom: If you are unable to move your mouse, click any buttons, or the program just isn't going forward, the program is locked up.

Solution:
  1. First, try typing Alt-F4. If the program exits, just restart the program and log back in.
  2. If Alt-F4 does not respond, use Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the Windows Task Manager. Click the menu - "Shutdown" and select "Restart". When your computer has rebooted, start the program.
  3. If Ctrl-Alt-Del does not bring up the Windows Task Manager, you will need to restart your computer manually. If your computer has a reset button, press it and the computer should reboot. Otherwise, press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down. Wait 15 seconds, and then restart the computer.
When you login and resume your course - you will be where you were prior to the lockup.
Internet Explorer Script Error
Symptom: The program has popped up a Internet Explorer Script Error.

Solution: If you receive a script error, please do not click anything. Call System 21 Tech Support at 1 (877)575-8311.
Microsoft Internet Explorer Error
Symptom: The program has popped up a Microsoft Internet Explorer Error Message.

Solution: If you receive a Microsoft Internet Explorer Error message, you most likely have lost a connection with our server. First, click 'OK' until either the program has exited, or the messages are gone. If the program is still running, try these steps.
  1. First, try typing Alt-F4. If the program exits, just restart the program and log back in.
  2. If Alt-F4 does not respond, use Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the Windows Task Manager. Click the menu - "Shutdown" and select "Restart". When your computer has rebooted, start the program.
  3. If Ctrl-Alt-Del does not bring up the Windows Task Manager, you will need to restart your computer manually. If your computer has a reset button, press it and the computer should reboot. The page cannot be displayed
Symptom: Either when starting the program, or while viewing the program, this page appeared.

Solution: The connection to our server has been lost. Either your internet service is down, or our server is down. Try opening your web browser and see if you can access other sites on the internet. If not, you will need to restore your internet connection before you can resume your program. If you have internet access, our server is most likely down. You can either try again later, or you can call our technical support line to find out more information.
